Europe represents countries with different national, legislative and cultural identities. I translated these differences into a positive visual language. The most elementary differences in symbolic imagery can be found in the forms of the square, triangle and circle. Therefore this concept shows these different images together, forming a strong and positive symbol for Europe.

This design reflects the wide spectrum of ethnic diversity, culture and language that is the entity of Europe. The 'e' type character sits as a unique entity upon the planets horizon, the embodiment of European unequalled pluralist society.

Using circles as a symbol of unity, Linked focuses on the idea of individuals who are connected and unified together, emulating the structure of the EU and encompassing the whole world. The outer circle represents the world, which each EU circle is anchored and linked to. Over-lapping creates communal channels for communication and flow. The gold circle represents wealth in a cultural and economical vein.

The dove of peace is my symbol for peaceful union of the european states. Stars are a well known symbol in europe. My tree rising stars describe the hopeful future of our union. In my opinion the aspect of living together in a united, peaceful europe is the most important accomplishment in the last century.

With this design, I wanted to portray the potential that Europe has. Just like America, Europe is diverse and beautiful.

Europe - from old greek Eurṓpē, "these with a wide sight". On a deep blue background marked by unlimited foresight till the horizon, a star is surrounded from a ring of unity it represent the nations of europe. The stars in the corners symbolise the four points of the compass.

This logo represents unity of Europe as a continent non-devided by the borders or nations, but as a continent which supports same values of democracy and a way of life.Blue colour retains from previous flag, and white is symbol of freedom.

''A nation that moves forward like a comet...'' The countries have been arranged according to the year in which they have become member of the European union. Each new country is seen as a source of new ideas, strength and inspiration. That metaphorically can be seen as new fuel for the progress of the comet. The background of the flag remains the same only the stars will be arranged otherwise.

The stars are removed from the blue field of the existing EU map, to emphasize unity and total equality.

This design shows the Castles,Coal, rich Corn Fields, Cows,Symbol, Sign of Europe.

My flag contains all the EU countries in 2010. The first countries (Belgium, France, Hollands, Luxemburg, Germany and Italy) who founded the EU and then the others in the order of the date when they were voted to be the part of the EU. In alphabetical order.

One golden (yellow) star seems to be the universal, simple continuation of the current european symbol. Any changes (e.g. number of members of the EU) would not change its expression and meaning.

The flag represents Europe futur

The unification of at least 27 strong and independent partners gives Europe its uniqueness. The flag keeps the symbol of unity by creating a circle from at least 27 but possibly an infinite number of points. They appear to accelerate, referring to Europe's progressiveness and not least to a clock with its twelve hours – the twelve stars, where this motive was developed from.

In this design, small stars have been joined in the middle to form a big star, trying to illustrate that different cultures, languages and different kinds of people have created the multicultural Europe of present. Stripes of different colors have been used to portray this multicultural aspect.

The choice of a twelve pointed star reflects the original European Union flag design with the twelve stars. The use of the colours blue and yellow also refers to the original design of the flag. The circle in the middle of the star symbolizes openness and unity. The horizontal yellow line represents the horizon from which the twelve pointed star rises.

Stars gave way to a capital star: Europe around Rosa rogusa. It is the oldest specie of all roses and well known by its symmetry just like the guiding star of Venus.

A development of my "Circle of Colors" proposal; I wanted to make an artistic and maybe a bit spacey and colorful flag, aiming for a modern and up-to-date feeling of the 21st century.

My concept is a stronger & more prosper Europe. In the future i believe Europe will grow in every aspect and provide a stability among the nations in the world. I kept the color and the stars, preserving the original identity, but i added a "shield" shielding the stars. This represents STRENGTH, PROTECTION, PEACE for the nations. The golden color and the shape of the shield represent PROSPERITY, WEALTH, and DIVERSITY OF CULTURES.

A CIRCLE DEFINES POWER AND UNITY. THE YELLOW CIRCLES ARE THE EUROPEAN CITIES AND THE BLUE CIRCLE IS THE UNION THAT COMBINE THEM TOGETHER. ON THE OTHER HAND IT LOOKS LIKE PEOPLE ARE HUGGING EACH OTHERS.

In the flag, I have represented the five colors of the olimpic games, the letters of EU together with the twenty-seven states members.

My Idea is a typografic solution. In the two colours who are already published and has the recognition value.

This design shows the Castles,Coal, rich Corn Fields, Cows,Symbol, Sign of Europe.

The histogram is a graphical representation of a number of elements having a common character, in this flag the EU countries are the elements and the common character is the membership in the European Union, of course, flexible to entry of new members.

It's coming from the original EU flag concept. The 27 member arms build the star of Europe. The concept represents the synergy of energy of all European nations. Note: there is place for more countries to be added!

The circle with the three colours symbolises the basis of the European Union: the Council, Parliament and Commission. Out of the RGB colours can evolve thousands of colours with symbolises the diversity of people. The computer colours are modern and reflect the way of communication. The small triangle shows the free movement of people within the EU. The larger triangle shows the cooperation beyond the borders of the EU. The white arrows intensify this. The isosceles triangle stands for life, prosperity and harmony. The white backround stands for perfection and purity.

Strength. History. Heritage. Honor. Tradition. This design encompasses these essential attributes of the European Union. The continuous, universal ring, intertwining infinitely in 3-dimensions, represents the connection between the past and future, the history that connects the European nations to one another, the heritage of the original member nations, and the inclusion of new nations in the future, while honoring the legacy of the original design.

My idea of a new symbol for Europe consists of a circle of elements in different colors and sizes on a blue background. The blue represents the west, the elements in different colors and sizes represent the fine maze of identities, cultures, traditions and languages while their position in a circle represents unity.

The star in this idea is made up of 5 different coloured arrows that are pointing outward. The different colours represent the different cultural attributes within the EU. The outward motion of the arrows represent growth and development on a economic and societal level as the countries and cultures of the EU work together.

I also thought of a single yellow star on a blue background...However this would be too simple for the worlds most powerfull and well known union( not only political as well ; refering to the three pillars it was built on)...Since the new era of expansion had begun for the EU ; it is much more like a world uninon not only powerfull in europe and related continents but in all continents of the world...Even in australia indirectly we are able to observe the footprints of the union in both cultural terms as well as the economic aspect...Thefore I decieded to put the yellow star ; represented a more unified europe strengthened by 12 smaller scale yellow stars also refering to the traditon of european union since European council..This design has a much more sphrecial(earth sphere) look also representing the ideologically expansion and world wide existance of the union

The blue stands for the sea and sky, the white stripe expresses hope for peace from "corner to corner" of Europe and the yellow star represents unity and livelihood. Instead of twelve separate symbols, it has twelve points in a single united, connected symbol, reflecting the motto "Unity in Diversity". The number twelve is derived from the current design; it is the number of perfection.

The flag consists of 8 colored lines. The number 8 represents "infinity" symbol form potavoce union of all cultures. They differ in language, traditions and habitats may generate a whole new social fabric that can integrate and interact to build a new Europe.

Europa, dougther of Agenor and Telephassa, in Greek mythology, as a goddess represented the lunar cow, at least on some symbolic level. Metaphorically, her name could be construed as the intelligent or open-minded

Eulion I based my idea on the organic object – dandelion. Each of the segments can fly by itself but all together they make the shape we recognize. The same like in the EU all of the countries has their own traditions but all together they form strong society.

While keeping the colours and star element of the original, this flag becomes an imagined "snapshot" of any group within Europe - people, countries, regions, thoughts etc - from which any connections continue beyond the imagined boundaries. It's a design around the concept "together, further". The bright design will stand out alongside other country flags (and a final effect is the pattern becomes almost abstract).

Blue azure and gilt stay the colors of European reference. The symbolism of stars - representing countries - tightens(stretches out) towards the evolutionary and not the quantitative. E for EUROPE. The semi ellipse of stars hidden brings no defined quantity, offering to the union, the possibility of evolving numérairement. The star in the foreground, indicates, a participative demand in the resolution of the big meetings(appointments) of tomorrow. 7 stars: multicultural, multiethnic, Europe is thus representative seven continents.

A chain is created by the five circles showing that all of the countries of the EU are connected. The chain extends off of the page suggesting an everlasting bond. The flag is different in style but it still uses the same base colors to show that viewers can easily identify the change of the flags.

I decided to keep the 12 stars to keep a link to the past and its non political symbolism. One star was moved to the center which opens up the circle to show that europe is open to other cultures and the world. The bigger central star gives weight to the flag thus portraying strength. Also, this disposition create a figurative E.

this flag is designed simply. I want to express europe's vitality and harmony. so I used 4colors on it. bule means peace that symbolize europe community and green means global leader. and then red, dark blue, yellow are show each passion,sense of responsibility,courage. On the fertile soil of freedom flourishes Europe – a sprout fertilised with the spirit of equality and tolerance. The sprout symbolizes innovative energy and vitality. Although it is rooted in a certain area, it is always on the move. And finally the sprout is growing up to a colourful bloom – just like the European community.

I choose the colour blue for the two strips, which is already recognizable for the E.U The white stripe stands for thrust and honesty. The golden circle in the middle stands for being one. The symbol in the circle is a wing and leaf. The wing stands for freedom. The leaf stands for prosperity, healthiness and grow.

Symbol shows abstract human with raised hands. A circle around him gives integrity and unity impression. Also we can see a flower from side view. Suggested colours are white and blue.

UNITY is the main message of this flag. The small blue dots create a pattern that represents the diversity and the international community where the 27 yellow European dots are inserted. The yellow pie represents the stars and the blue one the rest of the flag. It combines old in a new manner. We liked the fact that without a key legend, it could be readable for any kind of aspect, depending on the context.

My design represents the growing and rising power of the EU. The bottom represents countries with different backgrounds and whilst they go up and unite with a curve, the union which these individual countries form is shown. I used the star as a symbol of prosperity and the ultimate point nations can reach.

A positive, open, dynamic and friendly symbol. The Union grows from the universal concept of love, that is about goodwill, tolerance, patience, faithfulness and endurance. Built up by respecting the variety of cultures and identities. Readable from the left to the rigth and viceversa. Opened and powerfull strokes in reference to the waves to represent our economy . A symbol Tracing out the route to be followed by all the communities who migrate to these lands, free like a bird who chooses its best track.

The 27 circles constitute the different membership countries of the EU. The circle ist the symbol fort the entity. With his endless line he symbolises endlessness as well as finiteless. The circles itself are designed out of the ode of joy. The staves and the sheet music were abstracted into circles and arranged in a harmonic, supporting entity.

My circle the flag to the world. And the squares is a word Europe.

This is my submission for the new European Flag. Each of the circular symbols represent the flags of the countries currently in the EU. The order in which they are in is a time line of when each country joined the EU, for example, the first column is representative of France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxumbourg. Enough space has been left for future members to be added.

The inspiration for the design is the etymology of the name Europe. Europa comes from Greek, meaning "broad" (eur-) and "eye" (op-), hence "wide gazing" or "broad of aspect". The design reflects the unlimited scope of European peoples and countries, extending across the visible curve of the horizon.

There is a 12 branches star who symbolizes the old 12 stars in Europa Flag. The stripes symbolize the coninuity of Europa's enlargement, star symoblize country. And Euro symbol is central.

The derivation of this design is based on the colors of the original European Union flag - blue and gold. The design was inspired by the way in which a flag flutters in the wind, creating a fold. The blue stripes are an abstract letter E - for Europe. Additionally, if member countries wished, they could substitute their own national colours for the blue and gold to signify EU membership.

Like a star is born out of chaos (the agglomeration of dust), the plurality of the European member states itensifies into one entity of new quality, the European Union. Grafically, the so far isolated stars, standing for the autonomous states, are merged into one big, dancing star.

I LOVE EUROPE

The 12 stars are arranged clockwise and point to the center of the flag. A black circle connects them what gives them the appearance of a tripwire. This should show Europes isolation from immigrants. The colours yellow and black represent fear.

Our views are created by what we see of Europe in the news, but every European country has their own media that show a different view. This recently became clear with the different views on how serious the swine flu was. I represent this with the logo’s of the national TV-stations, that together form an eye through which you can see the real Europe.

This symbol is a 360 degree ring of 36 unique rays of light and vision that represent the existing stars of the EU flag. The stars are combined into the one star that is a ring with a sphere core and rays of different effects and influences. The all knowing eye, vision, power, life, diversity and unity are all represented in this design.

In this design, I wanted to celebrate the diversity of Europe by putting a spotlight on it. The twelve stars are still there, but arranged differently. Again, the brown, black, and white stars represent the population. I wanted to portray an overall feeling of balance.

This is the number of the countries of the European Union.

The flag symbolizes the harmony of the European Union. It works like music. Where different tones and instruments create a perfect melody. According to this the European Union is like a perfect song because of all its different languages, habits and cultures.

Intercrossing differently weighted circles represent diverse in EU, which comes from all sides of EU with their own cultures. Everything is mixed and flows constantly with one point (goal) the same in sense of common prosperity. There aren’t distinctive marks of number of members, or of their origin. Colors remain the same in purpose of well-established association.

"ONE EUROPE" The intertwining letter "Es" are the elements in the design. The symbol emphasizes the concept of unity. It signifies communication, participation and partnership among European countries. The symbol is hued in graduated screens of blue and yellow to symbolize a forward-moving Europe. The colors blue and yellow also complement each other.

Europe - diversity in culture, lanuages and traditions (the elements look like capital letter E)

The idea behind this design is that the contours of the countries of the European Union be designed in a retro-effect. Once superimposed, this design matches that of the Union. The superimposed picture is put up on my blog (address above).

Combined of water waves indicating the sea that surrounds Europe from most sides .. And which is considered as a big blessing from God. Also a four hands shape holds each other as a meaning of community/group power. Colors are chosen to be related and unique.

The logo created from the leaves of oak trees that made as EU letter form. The interpretative of Oak leave is this leave believed to be a gateway between worlds, or a place where portals could be erected. The purpose are to create a dynamic, reliable, represent the connection, networking and yet modern brand identity which represents the European Union countries, suits the present condition, and achieve the logo positioning purpose. The identity of Europe reflected in its own code or typography. This code refers to the basic forms of the national identities (flags). Placed as text, everyone can give their own opinion to it, something that also applies to the identity of Europe, a diversity of opinions.

The semicircle = "U" of UNION + big star + vertical direction = “E” de EUROPEAN; The biggest star represents currently members of the EU. The three smaller stars suggests that the EU is dynamic and open to new members. Variations can use the color white and partition the semicircle in 24 parts with different shapes and colors symbolize the diversity of culture, language, tradition etc.

In this flag I had used 8 colors. Blue is the color of Divinity. It brings:Peace and understanding, Enhances the easy flow of communication with yourself or others,Calms and relaxes. red ray furnishes sustenance for the physical body. It brings about: energy,enthusiasm, interest and passion, security The human eye is able to recognize more variation in the color green than in any other color. The indigo ray symbolizes the bridge between the finite and the infinite and opens the door to the mystical borderland. Yellow enriches, lightens and activates many of the systems of the body. Gold symbolizes: Wealth, prosperity, wisdom White symbolizes: Purity, Cleanliness Orange symbolizes: vitality with endurance

Clearly unity at one name; EU.

A ligature – the typograhic conjunction of different characters forming an entity – as a symbol for the European community. The form derives from combining all national abbreviations of the EU of its current and prospective members (ue, ae, es, …). Beeing not assignable to a specific language, each nation can identify itself in the ligature while always perceiving the complexity of the community.

This design stands for the multi-cultural diversity among the EU members, where everyone kknows that there differences (the two color fields), but still there is unity and understanding (the white ring crossing the two). In this design, everyone is united, yet everyone is allowed a different opinion.

For representing 27 member countries 27 pointers forming circular shape and having one center point which shows the unity & harmony. They are placed in such a way that it creates optical motion which gives a sense of liveliness. 5 different colors for pointers for 5 elements air, fire, earth, water, sky. The design is nothing but an collective growth, energy & life.

Hi! Logo contains the initials of the European Union "E-EUROPE, the color of the current logo. Stars highlight the initials. Colors of stars from yellow to red, symbolizing fire, such as a Olympic Torch during the Olympic Games. UE is a great event to. Let the fire burn. Gray (silver) is a fluorescent color.

The idea is about being an Union. One object which is made out of many stars (they are the same in shape - it represents the same rights for all countries, but they have different colours - their language, tradition and culture differ from the others.

not "the center of the world", but one of the center, there really are many

The idea is to represent Europe as it is, place where all have same chances regardless of their skin color and everybody is considered a citizen.

A dictionary definition for a flag is: "a piece of cloth, usually rectangular, of distinctive color and design, used as a symbol, standard, signal or emblem." For my design, I have chosen colors similar to the colors of the current flag. I decided to make the background darker and the yellow brighter. This is because I looked at the meaning of colors and found out that: 1- Yellow is associated with happiness, intellect and energy and is also an attention getter. 2- Dark blue symbolizes intelligence, confidence and truth and also represents knowledge, power and seriousness. The emblem is placed on the right according to the golden mean. I was inspired by the design on the one euro coin. There are nine lines going through europe and each line carries 3 stars. There are 27 starts in total and they represent the 27 countries.

When I think of the EU I think of the world, Europe. That’s why I’ve made the illustration of the globe with Europe in it. The word EU embraces the globe. It’s integrated with the illustration. I’ve chosen the color green, because of the subject natural environment. That is more and more an important issue.

Now all the stars that are different dynamic world, ideology and history etc have been scattered is becoming one star. and It is one authority. It is the work that we will enjoy erotic and humor through the hidden meaning of that. This is my design.

The success and diversity of the European Union rests on the ability to communicate in an informed and diplomatic manner. This dynamic emblem of 5 circles represents the 5 senses. Its through these senses every person in Europe can enjoy and be part of the international community,have an opinion. This modern and clean design is flexible whereby circles can be arranged in any manner of formations. A diverse, versatile logo for a modern society.

Individuals make a community, community-Village... Nations-EU-Rope. EU-rope represents today nearly 1/3-1/4 of the land mass and soon this will give leadership for One world and One Globe of Divergent individuals and Community to explore the mysterious Universe.

The symbol, inspired by the natural phenomenon »Phyllotaxis« (arrangement of the leaves of a plant) corresponds to the Fibonacci numbers and symbolises the beauty and perfection of many individual parts becoming one unit. Moreover, alluding to the shape of a flower, the symbol stands for hope and natural development of life. The color scheme visualises the night sky – the Occident.

Oval is the most ideal form in 2D, it represents the infinity and the things beyond our understanding. It has always been conected with the higher ideas. I thing that European Union is such an idea, the union of countries which will lead to something new, which, by now, we cant imagine.

Change & Challenge The flag symbolizes the special mission, task and role of Europe in the transition processes in a swirling world in the coming decades. This is conveyed through dynamic interconnecting shapes in blue and green.
