Today the workshop 'Unity and/or diversity for Europe' has started at VIDE, Den Haag. During this workshop students from various countries will develop concepts concerning the visual uniformity of Europe.

The first day of the workshop started with an inspiring workshop by Paul Hughes (LAVA/Orientationlab) on 'conceptual thinking'. The participating students all responded in a positive manner to the visual storytelling by Paul. Stories on various aspects of design, written down on the back of wallpaper rolls. These rolls will be displayed during the workshop and the presentations in Vide.

After lunch break the students visited the Representation of the European Commission in Den Haag. Director Ludolf van Hasselt spoke about the history of Europe, the relation of the inhabitants with Europe and the interest that Europe has in the results of workshops like these. Designers can be very helpful when it comes to making Europe visible and reinforcing the belief that Europe does matter.
