Opening Norm=Form in Germany

Opening Norm=Form in Germany

27.08.2010

In the context of RUHR.2010 our exhibition Norm=Form opened Friday 27 August, attended by Dutch and German guests.

We travelled from The Hague to Essen with a bus full of designers, architects and cultural institutions, business and government representatives. In Essen, at Zeche Zollverein, we were welcomed by Inez Boogaarts from the Dutch consulate in Düsseldorf and Barbara Wendling from Stiftung Zollverein, at the school for management and design, designed by the Japanese architects SANAA. During a tour of the building and the Zollverein area, philosopher Kurt Reinhardt told us about the history of this former coal mine complex and the redevelopment by OMA Office for Metropolitan Architecture.

After this inspiring visit our German guests arrived at Hall 5 and the official opening of Norm=Form started. Hermann Marth, director of Stiftung Zollverein, Inez Boogaarts, Dutch consulate in Düsseldorf, Ed Annink, Ontwerpwerk/ Foundation Design Den Haag, and curator Timo de Rijk gave an introduction. Afterwards the exhibition and the temporary shop with design products, the GastGastgeber store, were open for the public.

The exhibition and the GastGastgeber store are on show through 17 October in Hall 5 at Zeche Zollverein in Essen. Look here for photos of the exhibition.
