The voter seduced?
Election posters NL/DE

Interview with Titus Yocarini

Why should we visit 'The voter seduced' at your museum?
'This exhibition shows how image-forming, visual communication and history are joined together. What ways and means do political parties use to seduce the voter and what makes the difference.
We want to confront the public with ways of visual communication. Now we see just portraits and election-numbers on election posters, when back in the day they used symbol language. Colijn showed himself as a captain of a ship. Rita Verdonk also did this, when she was not in the position to behave as a captain. With examples like these we give visitors a reason to look at election posters with a critical note.'

What is your favourite election poster?
'A poster from my own collection from the PSP with a naked woman in a field with a cow (by graphic designer George Noordanus from 1972). I thought it was very daring at that time. A symbol of freedom, a statement. Under the picture it said disarming, a word with a nice double meaning.'
