Europa? Unity and/or diversity

Europe?

Unity and/or diversity

Exhibition
Royal Academy of Art (KABK), The Hague
Thursday 20 May until Friday 4 June

Philippe Starck once said ‘I am a European, born in France’. That is an interesting notion, especially when you know that most people will think of an image of the Eiffel tower when they think of Paris. With London we think of Tower Bridge, they eat Currywurst in Berlin, and they go and see bullfights in Madrid. All this diversity isn’t easy to translate into one single identity: the European. But what exactly is it, this European identity?
Students from design courses across Europe have come to The Hague to jointly develop ideas about a visual identity for Europe. The outcomes of the workshops will be shown in this exhibition: from a European travel and culture card to European zebra crossings.

Debate United States of Europe
