Police-Polizei-Carabi...One European police force?

Politie-Polizei-Carabi...

One European police force?

Presentation and debate
Princess Julianakazerne, The Hague
Saturday 5 June
Time: 7 – 9.30 pm

The discussion about unity and/or diversity within Europe will no doubt remain a subject for discussion for the leaders in Brussels. So far there are only a few visual means that connect the European countries. Think for instance of our number plates and European money.

The national police forces across Europe all have their own visual identity. However, there are many areas in which they already collaborate. The Hague-based design agency Ontwerpwerk and Berlin-based agency Fuenfwerken have tackled the question what a European police force could look like and visualised their design on a car. Should it carry a European symbol? How to treat the national identities? And can a balance been found between authority and accessibility? Both cars will be revealed during the public debate and the proposals will be presented by the designers. This will be followed by a discussion between representatives of government bodies and police forces from across Europe.
