At the conference 'Creative industries - Made by design' in Essen, Germany, keynote speaker Ed Annink held a lecture to introduce the programma of Design Den Haag. Timo de Rijk (design historian) spoke about standardisation in his lecture 'Is Norm the Form or Form the Norm?' They also organized a workshop, entitled 'Standardisation and identity', in which visitors of the conference could participate.
During the workshop the participants had to answer 4 questions in short statements;
