Presentation in the Idazaal, Den Haag
First propositions for a European bench
06.01.2010
This week 30 students from The Hague University have given a presentation on their first ideas for inter-European meeting places in parks and squares in governmental cities in Europe. During one semester, the students are working in groups on propositions for meeting places in Den Haag, Berlin, London, Paris, Rome and Stockholm. In preparation, some of the groups have travelled to their city. In Stockholm the students have visited the Humlegården to investigate the behaviour of the visitors in the park and how they use the existing benches. In Paris and Berlin the students researched the architecture and the design of the public space. The students have formulated their ideas on the design of a 'European Bench', using interactivity, new technologies and social awareness.
The workshop is part of the minor 'Global Design and Manufacturing' and involves students from the Bachelor Industrial Product Design and Human Technology.
