Tuesday 22 June the Europe Lecture with the theme 'Europe 2030' was delivered by Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council, in the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) in The Hague. Frans Timmermans, ex-state secretary of European Affairs, gave an introduction.
Design Den Haag was asked to add lustre to the lecture with the 12 flags with new symbols for Europe, result of the project 'A new symbol for Europe'. The flags were set up along the route from the church to the Atrium in The Hague City Hall. During the closing reception in the Atrium, Ed Annink handed the book 'The style of the State' to Herman van Rompuy as well as to mayor of The Hague, Jozias van Aartsen.
The guests of the reception were accompanied by more than lifesize policemen from 22 European countries, part of the exhibition 'Politie-Polizei-Carabi...'.
